How to remove a wine stain

Did you get a red wine stain on your tablecloth? On your white shirt? On your sofa? Stay calm, we have the solutions! Here are 3 tips to remove a red wine stain, using only products already in your cupboards.

Tip #1: White wine

And yes! How to clean a red wine stain? Using white wine. All you need is a clean sponge and you're done. How to proceed?
  • Pour the white wine on the red wine stain
  • Rub the stain with the sponge until it disappears
  • Throw your tablecloth or garment in the machine by following

Tip #2: Sparkling water

We stay in the products easily accessible in your kitchen: a bottle of sparkling water, you have? For better results, you should also bring white vinegar, liquid Marseille soap, water and a clean cloth. After pouring the soda water directly onto the wine stain, gently scrub from the outside of the stain to the inside. Important: rub on the back of the fabric, not directly on the stain. Then, in a container, mix 250ml of white vinegar, 125ml of water and 1 tablespoon of liquid Marseille soap. Let your tablecloth or garment soak in this mixture for about 15 minutes. Then, put your stained fabric in the machine.

Tip #3: Flour or talcum powder

Everyone has a bag of flour in their closet, or if not, a little talcum powder. Best way to get rid of your red wine stains! Sprinkle the flour directly on the stained fabric and let the powder absorb the excess wine. This method is only effective on recent tasks. Then brush the fabric to remove the flour or talcum powder and repeat if necessary. Of course, put your fabric in the machine next.

Bonus tip: to remove an old wine stain

Is your red wine stain a few days old? It is possible to catch your fabric, but it may be more difficult than on a recent stain.

White vinegar and household alcohol

Get a glass, and fill it as follows: ½ glass of water, ¼ of household alcohol, ¼ of white vinegar. Soak a clean cloth with this mixture, then dab the wine stain with it. Then rinse with clean water.

Lemon and sodium bicarbonate

Mix your baking soda and lemon juice in a container. Then apply this mixture to the wine stain and leave it on for a few seconds. Wipe with a clean cloth, then rinse with clean water.

Last tip

Boiled milk works great on both old and new wine stains on fabric!

Mistake to avoid when removing a red wine stain

The wrong idea: use coarse salt! Unfortunately, using salt on your fabric will only fix the stain on it (just like putting the fabric in the machine without stain removal)
